2Hr Aquarist APT Jazz – Advanced Root Fertiliser for Planted Aquariums
2Hr Aquarist APT Jazz is a specialised, slow-release root fertiliser designed to support thicker, fuller aquatic plant growth by delivering essential nutrients directly into the substrate. It is particularly useful for mature aquasoil that has gradually lost its nutrient reserves over time.
Unlike conventional root tabs that may release nutrients rapidly into the water column, APT Jazz uses ammoniacal nitrogen and a clay-based matrix to help retain nutrients around the root zone. This makes it a valuable option for aquascapers looking to improve plant growth while maintaining greater control over water-column nitrate levels.
✨ Key Features
Advanced Root Nutrition: Supplies nitrogen and essential macro- and micronutrients directly to plant roots.
Rejuvenates Mature Aquasoil: Helps replenish depleted substrate without requiring a complete substrate replacement.
Slow-Release Formula: Designed to release nutrients gradually within the substrate.
Supports Fuller Growth: Promotes stronger, denser growth forms, particularly in plants that benefit from substantial root nutrition.
Supports Richer Red Colouration: Can be used as part of a nitrate-limitation fertilisation approach for red aquatic plants, when combined with appropriate water-column fertilisation.
Designed for Aquatic Use: Formulated specifically for submerged aquarium environments.
🌿 Ideal for
APT Jazz is particularly useful for mature planted aquariums where plant growth has slowed as the substrate's nutrient reserves decline. It can benefit root-feeding plants such as Cryptocoryne and Echinodorus, as well as planted areas where fuller growth is desired.
It is designed to work especially well with aquasoil. It can also be used with fine-grained inert substrates, although nutrient retention may differ.
🧪 How to Use
Insert each capsule into the substrate directly beneath the target plants' root zones. Keep the capsule buried at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) below the substrate surface to help prevent nutrients from escaping directly into the water.
Use approximately one capsule per 16 cm² (2.5 square inches) of substrate. After insertion, remove any disturbed debris with a siphon.
💧 Recommended Replenishment
The manufacturer recommends replenishing APT Jazz after approximately 2 months.
For best results, monitor new plant growth after application. Changes are generally more noticeable in newly developed leaves; existing damaged or older leaves will not necessarily recover.
⚠️ Important Notes
APT Jazz is a substrate fertiliser, not a complete replacement for liquid fertilisation. For balanced plant nutrition, combine root feeding with an appropriate water-column fertiliser suited to your aquarium.
When using inert substrate, choose a fine grain size and ensure sufficient substrate depth to help retain nutrients around the roots. Avoid disturbing capsules during maintenance or replanting, and siphon away any debris that becomes exposed.
